The UK Food Standards Agency launched a two-year Cell-Cultivated Products Regulatory Sandbox initiative to test innovative regulatory approaches for cultivated foods. Eight companies, including Mosa Meat and BlueNalu, will participate. The FSA will conduct full safety evaluations of two companies to develop protocols for the alt-protein industry. The program aims to foster dialogue between industry, academia, and regulators on cultivated meat safety. It follows a £1.6 million government investment to bring innovative food products to market quickly and safely. Researchers from multiple institutions will collaborate to gather data on cell-cultivated product development.
