The French research initiative Ferments du Futur has received 19.1 million euros in additional funding from the National Research Agency for the 2026 to 2028 period. The upcoming phase will prioritize three specific areas including automation and digitalization, solid state fermentation, and the refinement of post fermentation processes. By utilizing advanced modeling tools and specialized laboratory equipment, the initiative seeks to develop new food ingredients and strengthen food security. This investment is part of a broader ten year commitment to establish France as a leader in the transition toward alternative proteins and sustainable food systems.
