The Abu Dhabi government has introduced a framework allowing companies to conduct public tastings of innovative foods, such as cultivated meat and precision-fermented proteins, before receiving full approval for sale. Developed by the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), the Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), the guidelines aim to support research, innovation, and investment in the food tech sector. The framework enables companies to test products in controlled environments, gather consumer feedback, and refine their offerings while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. Abu Dhabi’s diverse population provides a strategic advantage for testing products across different cultural and demographic groups. The initiative also strengthens the city’s appeal to international investors and accelerates the commercialization of novel foods, contributing to economic diversification and food security. The ADIO is collaborating with companies like Vivici and The Every Company to establish a precision fermentation facility, further supporting the growth of the sector.
