German cultivated protein startup Innocent Meat has secured €6 million ($7 million) in funding to scale its operations and obtain regulatory approval. The company aims for market entry in 2028. Innocent Meat develops an automated manufacturing technology for industrial cultivated meat, targeting conventional meat producers. This technology covers the entire production chain, from animal cells to the final meat product, and is designed for high automation at client sites. The startup uses artificial intelligence, with one bioreactor capable of producing a tonne of minced pork weekly. The investment will support building a demonstration plant and developing scalable production infrastructure. Innocent Meat also operates Faba.Bio, which sells growth factors for cultivated meat and regenerative medicine. This funding round occurred despite a general decline in investment for the cultivated meat sector.
