A study by Aleph Farms and New Sense Research compared the company’s cultivated Black Angus steak with traditional beef among regular meat consumers. Results showed 96% acceptance for the cultivated product versus 98% for conventional steak, a statistically insignificant difference. Willingness to order either option in a restaurant was also nearly identical. Participants rated the cultivated steak slightly higher for tenderness and found its texture more ideal. Highlighting nutritional benefits like lower fat and cholesterol did not decrease purchase interest, with 72% maintaining positive intent. Emphasizing iron and vitamin B12 increased interest for 61% of participants. Aleph Farms’ product, approved for sale in Israel and seeking approval elsewhere, contains 80% less cholesterol and fewer calories than conventional beef. The company aims for restaurant launches by 2027.
