The Food Standards Agency and Food Standards Scotland has released four guidance documents to assist businesses in navigating the regulatory requirements for cell-cultivated products. Developed under the Cell-Cultivated Products Sandbox Programme, the new guidance covers food hygiene, scientific requirements for market authorization, advice on improving application quality, and regulations for conducting taste trials. This initiative aims to provide regulatory clarity for companies while ensuring consumer safety standards are maintained. The Sandbox Programme, which runs until February 2027, also provides a business support service to facilitate direct engagement between companies and regulatory experts. These resources are intended to help businesses understand the necessary steps to bring safe, innovative food products to the market in Great Britain.
