UK biotech firm BSF Enterprise has restructured its operations, splitting its activities into two main entities. 3D Bio-Tissues now serves as the core research, intellectual property, and manufacturing arm, focusing on tissue engineering and producing cell-culture media and scaffolds. Meanwhile, Cultivated Meat Technologies has been rebranded as Milieu.bio, a dedicated commercial unit supplying cell-culture media additives like CityMix and CityBoost to biopharma, cell therapy, and cultivated meat sectors. Under the new structure, 3D Bio-Tissues will manufacture media for Milieu.bio under a supply agreement, while Milieu.bio operates independently with an asset-light model. The move aims to clarify roles, streamline operations, and support shareholder value. BSF Enterprise, founded in 2018, develops tissue engineering solutions and secured £15 million ($20 million) in funding last year to accelerate commercialization. The restructuring follows industry challenges like high media costs, with Milieu.bio’s supplements designed to improve cell growth efficiency and reduce expenses for clients such as South Korea’s SeaWith.
