Friends & Family Pet Food, a US-based startup, has launched its cultivated meat products for dogs and cats in Hong Kong, available online and soon in physical stores. The company, which uses quail cells to create protein-rich treats and broth toppers, secured regulatory approval in Singapore and imports its products to Hong Kong following local guidelines. The startup targets Asia’s growing pet market, where declining birth rates have led to increased pet ownership. Its products, which include health-focused treats and toppers, have shown benefits such as improved digestion and reduced itching in clinical studies. Friends & Family, which has expanded to Singapore and Hong Kong, plans further growth in Asia and is raising funds to support its expansion. Consumer research revealed low awareness of cultivated meat, prompting the company to adjust its marketing approach.
