Malaysian firm Cell AgriTech, a contract manufacturer specializing in cultivated meat, has acquired all equipment from Avant Proteins, the Singapore research arm of cultivated seafood startup Avant. Avant wound down its Singapore operations due to liabilities, though it continues to operate from Hong Kong. Cell AgriTech purchased a range of equipment, including lab-scale production systems, pilot-scale bioreactors, and analytical tools, to enhance its manufacturing capacity. This acquisition strengthens Cell AgriTech’s ability to support cultivated meat and seafood companies from early-stage research to commercial production. Avant’s departure from Singapore reflects financial and scale-up challenges within the cultivated meat sector.
