The Novo Nordisk Foundation is establishing BRIGHT, a new biotechnology research institute at the Technical University of Denmark, with funding of up to DKK 1.05 billion over 7 years. BRIGHT aims to advance bioproduction methods to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, focusing on sustainable materials, microbial foods, and microorganisms for net-zero agriculture. It will serve as a collaborative platform for academia and industry to develop and scale innovative bioproduction technologies. The initiative seeks to lower emissions, strengthen Denmark’s bio-based industry, and enhance DTU’s biotechnology capabilities through partnerships. BRIGHT is set to launch in 2025.
