Dutch startup Mosa Meat has filed for UK regulatory approval of its cultivated beef fat, aiming to commercialize hybrid meat products by 2027. The submission to the Food Standards Agency follows its participation in the UK’s cultivated meat sandbox program, designed to accelerate regulatory pathways. Mosa Meat, which debuted the world’s first lab-grown burger in 2013, has also sought approvals in the EU, Switzerland, and Singapore.  The UK sandbox, backed by £1.6M in government funding, aims to modernize novel food regulations and position Britain as a leader in cultivated meat. Mosa Meat plans public tastings of its next-gen products this year, pending approvals.
