Precision fermentation companies Vivici and The Every Company have formed a strategic partnership with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) to develop a 4-million-liter, multi-tenanted industrial-scale facility in the UAE for alternative protein production, marking a significant step for Abu Dhabi’s AgriFood Growth and Water Abundance (AGWA) cluster. This initiative aims to enhance regional food security, expand Abu Dhabi’s role in global protein supply chains, and establish a clear regulatory framework for fermented proteins in the region, while also exploring export opportunities to Asia, Africa, and Europe. The Every Co. focuses on animal-free egg proteins to ensure supply chain resilience, while Vivici, a Fonterra and DSM-Firmenich venture, is leveraging its founders’ expertise to produce dairy proteins like beta-lactoglobulin. This move aligns with a growing regional focus on food security, exemplified by similar biomanufacturing explorations in Saudi Arabia.
