Swedish firm Melt&Marble, specializing in precision fermentation-derived fats, has secured an $8.5 million Series A funding round, led by Industrifonden, with participation from the European Innovation Council Fund, Beiersdorf, and Valio, bringing its total raised to around $17.3 million. The company uses engineered yeast strains to convert sugars into sustainable fat alternatives that mimic animal and tropical plant-based fats, targeting applications in both food (for improved texture in alternatives) and personal care (with its Marble7 bioactive lipid). This new capital will support the company’s transition to full commercial production, with a planned launch of its personal care ingredients in 2026, for which it has secured European registrations, and simultaneous progress on US GRAS filing for its food products to capitalize on the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance fats across multiple sectors.
