Researchers identified forskolin as a proliferation activator for bovine muscle stem cells (bMuSCs) and created the serum-free “Beefy-F” medium. Beefy-F increased bMuSC yield by 1.9 times compared to a control, matching serum-controlled levels while maintaining cell characteristics. This research establishes a cost-effective, small molecule strategy for expanding bMuSCs without serum.
