Biokraft Foods, a Mumbai-based startup, is advancing India’s cultivated meat sector by preparing a regulatory filing for cultivated chicken. The company recently debuted cultured seafood prototypes, including trout, in collaboration with ICAR-CICFR, a government research institute. Using 3D bioprinting, Biokraft aims to replicate conventional meat’s texture and nutrition while addressing sustainability challenges. The trout product, blending cultivated cells with plant and algal ingredients, targets high-value markets and endangered species. Biokraft aims for commercial rollout by 2026.
