Lab-grown seafood company BlueNalu has expanded its partnership with Nomad Foods (owner of Birds Eye) to commercialize cell-cultivated seafood in the UK and Europe. The collaboration, building on a 2021 agreement, will focus on market-entry strategies, including premium foodservice launches and limited-time offerings. BlueNalu, part of the UK’s FSA Sandbox program, aims to introduce its first product, cell-cultivated bluefin tuna toro, backed by research showing 92% of UK sushi consumers are interested in trying it, citing benefits like no contaminants and high omega-3 content. Agronomics, a key investor, highlights strong consumer demand for sustainable, healthier alternatives.
