Bites from the Barn at Berkeley Bowl, an independent grocery store in California, from November 2025 to February 2026. The first event on November 1, 2025, will feature the retail sale of Mission Barns’ Italian-style cultivated pork meatballs for $13.99, which the company states is the first time cultivated meat has ever been sold for retail worldwide. The meatballs, which combine cultivated Mission Fat™ with plant-based proteins, aim to provide the flavor and texture of conventional pork, and the events will include live cooking demos, meet-and-greets with scientists, and observation by Tufts University researchers to study public acceptance. This retail debut follows the company’s recent restaurant launch and comes after Mission Barns secured both FDA clearance for its cultivated pork fat and USDA inspection authorization earlier in the year.
