Cultivated meat start-up Gourmey, which specializes in foie gras, has merged with cultivated chicken producer Vital Meat to form a new entity named Parima. This consolidation unites Gourmey’s comprehensive “full-stack” production control with Vital Meat’s substantial 2,000-liter bioreactor capacity and advanced avian cell lines, positioning the company for significant upscaling. The merger also combines their intellectual property, resulting in 15 patent families and over 70 applications. Furthermore, Parima now holds the distinction of being the first cultivated meat company globally to have pending regulatory applications for two different animal species (duck and chicken), with nine total filings across various locations, including the European Union. CEO Nicolas Morin-Forest stated that the move marks “the right moment for consolidation and scale,” strengthening Europe’s potential to lead in sustainable food innovation.
