The Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein and Imperial College London have launched a 12-month accelerator program to assist food technology startups in moving from laboratory research to commercial production. This initiative addresses the difficulty of scaling new food innovations by connecting entrepreneurs with industry partners including Danone, Mars, Cargill, and Kerry. These corporations will define specific commercial challenges and provide pilot budgets for ventures that meet established milestones. Participants will receive technical validation, regulatory guidance, and access to specialized infrastructure to help generate the data required for market adoption. The program also offers equity-free funding and potential venture investment to help startups overcome financial and technical barriers. By aligning research with real market demand, the accelerator aims to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and the practical production of sustainable food ingredients.
