A Dutch farm in Zuid-Holland, led by farmer Corné van Leeuwen, has commenced production of ‘cultivated meat’ in a global first, through a partnership with RespectFarms, EIP-Agri, and the Province of Zuid-Holland. The project’s core mission, championed by RespectFarms, is to pioneer a decentralized, on-farm model that integrates cultivated meat production directly into existing agricultural operations, ensuring livestock farmers remain central to the protein transition while providing them with a new income stream. Supported by regional government for its economic and innovation potential, the van Leeuwen farm will serve as a real-world test and learning center, with cultivated meat units demonstrating the cell-based production process to other farmers before an Experience Centre opens in Spring 2026 to promote transparency and co-creation among stakeholders.
